FROM IDEA TO REALITY: THE EVOLUTION OF SHARETHESPARE MOVEMENT
It all began when Maria , Alkistis and Christina kicked off their uni life in Panteion Uni in the Creative and Innovation field . It felt troubling how much food was thrown away not only by people they knew but also by them selves.
"It was a turning point for me . I treated food in the poorest way and didnt even think about how much poverty there is around me . The lackof time and the lack of education around this topic kept me throwing away loads of food while it could be so easy to just give it to someone"
I visited Ab vasilopoulos once and got in touch with their "mazi boroume movement " and knew i had to follow and also get people around me to be aware too. Thats when Maria and Alkistis joined for the creation of sharethespare movement .
INTERVIEWS AND INSIGHT
Most of the people we came in contact with, stated that they are left with extra food more often than not. They also said that they usually try to keep it simple and only cook enough food for every family member but in the end of the day, there is always some food left aside. When asked what they do with it, they replied that it either gets thrown away or it is given to stray animals around the house. When also asked what is this that prevents people from taking action, most of them said that nowadays someone will not care about his fellow as he has his own problems troubling him. People try to make their lives as good as possible, unintentionally ignoring the others’ needs.
